Get ready to welcome back the Little Sisters of Hoboken. VWCT was one of the few theatres in Ohio that was able to secure the rights to perform Nunsense in 1990, and that production began a tradition of producing other shows in the Nunsense catalog. VWCT has produced all seven of the Nunsense shows in the order in which the were published– Nunsense, Nunsense II: The Second Coming, Sister Mary Amnesia Country Western Nunsense Jamboree, Nuncrackers, Meshugga Nuns, Nunsensations, and Nunset Boulevard. And now, we offer Nunsense: the Mega Musical Version. In this installation of Nunsense, creator Dan Goggin has added characters to the original Nunsense while keeping the orginal songs and flavor of the show featuring eleven survivors convent, the rest of the sisterhood having succumbed to botulism after eating vichyssoise prepared by Sister Julia, Child of God (who appears in this version). The remaining members parade their talents at a variety show staged to raise funds so that the last four of the dearly departed can be buried.
Cast in the Mega-Musical Version are Mary Ann Falk as Reverend Mother, Stacy Rife at Sister Hubert, Kristin Lee as Robert Ann, Nancy Williams Shuffle as Amnesia, and Debbie Briggs as Sister Leo. Other actors include Kelly Beise, Evan Joseph, Emily Gehle, Hatti Bouillon, and Alyssa Taylor. Jerry Zimmerman, who had his VWCT choreography debut with the original production in 1990, is back to choreograph this rendition and co-direct the production with Amy Boley. Dee Fisher rounds out the directorial staff as music director. Dee also did music direction on the original production.
