Nothing says “American values” like a family roadtrip. Come join us as the Browning family hops in the roadster, pumps the accelerator three times to start the engine, and takes you on a trip of memories. You may recall your own family trips fondly — or not so fondly. Director Doug Grooms and his cast promise an evening of laughter and smiles and a few tugs at the heartstrings. Leaving Iowa is a show about the classic family vacation in a car. Don Browning, played by Trent Gossett, is on a journey to take his father’s ashes to his childhood home. The journey takes an unexpected detour, and Don begins to reminisce about family road trips of the past. During the flashbacks of Don’s memories, we see Dad (Ed Eichler), Mom (Lisa Eichler), and Sis (Shiloh Wittwer) in the car with Don as they travel along through vacations of the past. On each of the stops, the memories are reenacted with the help of Dolores Foreman, Daniel Sanderson, and Courtney Wendel who play various characters throughout the show. While this family’s car trip banter is unique, audience members who have ever taken a family road trip will recognize their own family.
