These are different times in which we live. The Van Wert Civic Theatre is strangely quiet during this time of social distancing. Before we go any farther, we want to let you know that we miss each of you and hope you are safe and well. Community theatre is nothing without our audiences and patrons.
Due to COVID-19 and the uncertainty of when theatres will be able to return to usual operations, the VWCT Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel Mamma Mia!, the final show of the 2019-2020 season. Our plan is to bring Mamma Mia! to our patrons; we just don’t know when that will be. The Board has decided not to announce our 2020-2021 season since dates and productions may need to change. With heavy hearts, we have also canceled all summer youth productions for 2020. Please know that we will bring you live theatre as soon as it is safe to do so.
Many of you have unused flex passes from the 2019-20 season. There is no perfect way to refund these passes. As you are aware, our flex passes are different from a ticket purchased to a specific performance because you choose how and when to use the passes. During this time when VWCT must follow Governor Dewine’s shutdown orders, we are receiving no new income. While we are not producing shows, we do continue to have expenses (utilities, insurance, and our new roof, for example). With this in mind, the Board has developed a formula for the amount of passes we can refund. Flex pass holders will receive a letter in the next week explaining how to request a refund. VWCT misses you all. Be well…. be safe… we will see you soon.
