Van Wert Civic Theatre will be holding auditions by appointment for Disney The Little Mermaid Jr on Sunday, May 15 and Monday, May 16 from 7 – 9 p.m. at 118 S Race Street in Van Wert, OH. Directors Emily Gehle, Alyssa Taylor, and Griffen Waltmire invite youth ages 5 – 18 to audition. Those auditioning should come prepared to move and sing a song. The directors will be checking your vocal range. No need to prepare an elaborate song. The director may have you sing a song from the show or ask you to sign “happy birthday”. Please wear shoes that will stay on your feet.
The first hour of auditions each night will be designated for ages 5 -11. The second hour will be designated for ages 12 – 18. If you have more than one child auditioning and they fall into different age ranges, you may choose either audition time. Youth only need to attend one night of auditions. Each audition will last 50 minutes. Do not arrive more than 5 minutes early. The directors may hold callbacks on Tuesday, May 17 for lead roles.

The adult with the youth will be asked to complete a permission form at the audition. Rehearsals primarily will be 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Mondays – Thursdays at the theatre. Performances are June 23, 24, 25 at 7:30 PM and June 26 at 2 PM at the Van Wert Civic Theatre. Tickets go on sale to the public June 20. Parents will be provided an opportunity to get tickets before the public.
