Van Wert Civic Theatre invites all youth ages 6 – 18 to audition for Hey Diddle Diddle: The Adventures of the Dish and the Spoon. A cat plays the fiddle; the cow jumps over the moon while the little dog laughs; and the dish runs away with the spoon…but then what? A group of storytellers are challenged to continue the story of the dish and the spoon from Hey Diddle Diddle. The tales that they spin find the dish and spoon fleeing from the Abominable Snowman, encountering the witch from Hansel and Gretel, becoming spies, and even fighting bad sushi. All ages will love watching this funny play.
Director Monica Campbell will be holding auditions by appointment on Sunday, June 19 and Monday, June 20 from 6:30 – 8 PM at 118 S Race Street in Van Wert, OH. There is no preparation necessary for the audition. Please wear shoes that will stay on your feet. Each audition will last 15 minutes. Do not arrive more than 5 minutes early. The adult with the youth will be asked to complete a permission form at the audition. There are a maximum of 23 speaking roles. Additional non-speaking roles MAY be created if needed.
Rehearsals primarily will be 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Mondays – Thursdays at the theatre. July 24 – 28 will be technical and dress rehearsals with times TBA. Performances are July 29 and 30 at 7:30 PM and July 31 at 2 PM at the Van Wert Civic Theatre. Tickets go on sale to the public July 25. Parents will be provided an opportunity to get tickets before the public.
